John Michael Halpern ’40 of New York City died August 29, 2009. A graduate of Horace Mann School, he attended Dartmouth from 1936 to June 1939, was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa and the German Club and studied piano at Julliard School of Music. After serving in the Navy during World War II Jack was a director of radio and television and worked on documentary films for M.I.T. and Time-Life Inc. He was the author of three photography books and a member of his local Dartmouth club. Jack is survived by his wife, Cecilia, and children Cecilia and John ’67. He was predeceased by son Paul.
